Traveling Off Road Camping
4 wheel drive off road truck camping can be a lot of fun. There are many adventures you can find on those dirt roads in the wilderness.
Unless you are extremely experienced, don’t go out by yourself. A group or caravan will be the best way for a novice off-roader to hit the back trails. When you go out in a group it would be best to have someone who is experienced; someone who has already gone out through the back roads.
Safety is very important when going off roading in your truck camper. Make sure your vehicle is in absolute perfect mechanical condition. You don’t want to break down in the middle of nowhere. The roads can be rough and if you’re not paying attention a rut could damage your vehicle. If you’re out in the desert the landscape can be very deceptive. Watch for washed out goalies that could suddenly appear. Sand dunes could cause your vehicle to get stuck.
As with any outdoor adventure it is best to be prepared always. Since you will probably be miles away from any road make sure you have enough food and water. Off road truck camping is exhilarating to say the least. There’s nothing like being out in the open wild in a very secluded place all by yourself or with close friends away from the hustle and bustle of the highways and the city.
